Mst. Akima Hosen Liza is a psychotherapist, researcher, training facilitator, and educator with 5 years of diverse learning experience. She started her career as a psychologist in a private hospital in Dhaka, gaining hands-on experience as a therapist providing counseling services and maintaining records. She then joined icddr,b, where she was involved in research on disability service mapping and capacity development training for government and non-government service providers. Liza also managed a team of health service providers and was responsible for public relations with external stakeholders.


Liza holds Masters degrees in Psychology and Clinical Social Work. In 2022, she transitioned into academia as a lecturer in SKS School and College. In addition to preparing lectures and conducting classes, Liza engages students in various academic activities, evaluates their progress, and provides consultation as needed. She also conducts workshops on psychological concepts such as positive thinking, stress management, and self-care, fostering healthy relationships and providing counseling to emotionally vulnerable students and parents. Liza actively participates in different committees related to the college's co-curricular activities.


In her previous roles, Liza supervised and managed a team of health service providers, facilitated capacity development initiatives, and conducted research and literature reviews. She also developed training modules and facilitated long-duration training sessions. As a psychotherapist, Liza facilitated sessions in training and workshops on various topics such as drug abuse counseling, family therapy, individual counseling, and stress management. She provided therapy services to clients, developed intervention and assessment reports, and conducted home visits.


Liza has made additional contributions in the field of research, assisting in pre-research content development and contributing to the development of a depression scale for mothers of autistic children. She is a lifetime member of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP). Liza has attended several training programs on topics related to child development, autism, and mental health assessments, conducted by renowned professionals and organizations in Bangladesh.
