Course content and schedule
1. Stimming/ Sensory seeking and SI: 2 hours
(Sensory seeking is frequently treated by clinicians as one of the major difficulties in children with Autism. Both parents and medical professionals rely on therapists to get these issues reduced or resolved in as little time as possible. It will be great to learn the clinical reasoning to guide the treatment plan.)
2. Sensory Integration and sexual behaviours in young children and adolescents: Assessment and intervention: 2 hours
(Sexual behaviours in children with Autism, are increasingly being seen as concerns in young children as well as adolescents. Sensory Integration can offer perspectives for understanding the child's needs and behaviour Hyper and hypo responsiveness to sensory may be connected to these behaviours. Treatment principles and techniques will be discussed for the same.)
3. Social Emotional Regulation: 2 hours
(Related terms used in SI will be discussed like Sensory regulation, Emotional regulation, self regulation. Which of the sensory systems are underlying these constructs. How do we understand these terms and use them in out treatment to promote social development and emotional regulation.)

MANISH SAMNANI, PhD scholar (OT), M.O.Th. (Pediatrics), B.O.T.
Manish Samnani completed graduation in OT in 2000 and post graduation in Pediatric OT in 2005 with a gold medal. He is the Clinical Director of SOCH, Gurgaon and manages a multidisciplinary team of 35 therapists since 10 years. He is on Advisory Board to In-Sync, Hyderabad, ACE school Gurgaon, Dwish Kolkata, Autism Centre, Ludhiana, Seher Chittagong and Faith Bangladesh. He has certification in sensory integration and certification in Neuro-developmental Therapy and trained in Developmental Assessment Scales for Indian Infants (DASII). He has served in PDDU-IPH, ISIC, Jamia Hamdard and contributed as academic faculty for graduate and postgraduate OT students. He has presented papers in conferences of AIOTA and European SI congress. He has developed and presented parents and professionals workshops about OT in autism, behaviour, and sensory integration in multiple cities across India and abroad. He organizes and contributes to professional development programs and short term courses in collaboration with Adelphi university, New York; Council for SI education; Missouri State University; Thomas Jefferson University for OT and other professionals in India and neighbouring countries. He was the autism Indian OT expert on the US based Autism Live program. He has published 3 research papers in IJOT, and also in SI International. Currently he has been appointed as the Asia Regional Lead for International Normative Data Collection project by Thomas Jefferson University and Ayres SI. He is the president of Haryana Chapter of AIOTA and is working in collaboration with OT and other allied health professionals as guide, mentor and supervisor supported by his wife Malvika Samnani who is also an OT.
