Description The scientific publication in a peer reviewed journal does not only share a potential solution to an existing problem in other settings, but also fills the gap in the knowledge base. But the process of writing and getting it published that require specific knowledge and skills set, can be particularly challenging for early and mid-level researchers, academicians and programme practitioners. This course ‘Scientific Manuscript Writing for Publication’ offered by McWeadon Education in collaboration with faith Bangladesh and Public Health Foundation of Bangladesh is designed to train early and mid-level professionals on scientific writing and help them develop their researcher papers into a manuscript for publication. Training Modality The course will be conducted online via Zoom platform. Participants will need to have a computer with strong internet connection with Zoom, EndNote and Microsoft Office Suite installed. Target Groups/Participants The early and mid-level professionals working in public health and development preferably in research or programme and early career academicians will benefit the most from this course. It is assumed that the participants have a sound knowledge on research methodology. Course Duration and Timing The course will be conducted for 3 days. Sessions will be conducted from 9am to 5pm on 18, 20 & 25 March 2021. But at times it may continue beyond this. Course Fee BDT 5000 (Five Thousand Only) to cover the cost of training materials, faculty time and certificate of participation. The course fee is payable on notification of acceptance preferably by wire transfer or bank draft in favor of faith Bangladesh (bank details will be provided with acceptance letter). Admission will be confirmed only when the fee is received. Lead Facilitator Dr. Taufique Joarder is the Consultant, Health Workforce Consultancy for the Universal Health Coverage Compendium, Human Resources for Health Policies and Standards Unite, Health Workforce Department, the World Health Organization, Geneva, Switzerland. Before joining this consultancy, he was the Research Director in the USAID's Strengthening Multisectoral Nutrition Programming through Implementation Science Activity (MSNP), FHI 360, Bangladesh Office. He also worked as an Assistant Professor at BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University, Bangladesh. He has been involved as an Associate Faculty at the Health Systems Program of Department of International Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health; Adjunct Faculty at BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, Bangladesh; and Associate Professor (Part-time) at Department of Public Health, North South University, Bangladesh. He is also serving as the Executive Director of Public Health Foundation, Bangladesh; and Associate Editor of BMC Globalization and Health journal. He completed his Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH) from the Department of International Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Before this, he obtained the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University, with the highest distinction, and won the prestigious Allan Rosenfield Award for the best overall performance. He also obtained a Diploma in International Health and Policy Evaluation from Erasmus University, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He is a medical doctor with an MBBS degree from Dinajpur Medical College, Bangladesh. His areas of interest include health policy, health systems, human resources for health, global health, nutrition policy, medical anthropology, mixed methods research, implementation science, and psychometrics. He has been teaching courses extensively on qualitative research methods, global health, and health policy and systems issues in the MPH course of different universities and professional short courses. He has over 22 international peer-reviewed journal publications and four book chapters from internationally renowned publishing houses. He speaks in the electronic media and regularly writes on health policy and systems issues in the Bangladeshi media and international blogsites/newsletters.
